Credit/Debit Card (Master Card/VISA)

MasterCard and Visa offer an authentication procedure for additional security in online debit card transactions. This service is called Secure Code for MasterCard and 3-D Secure for Visa. These authentication procedures are designed to reduce the risk of fraud and loss of payments due to card misuse. By requesting a personal security code, the system checks whether the transaction was carried out by the legitimate cardholder. During the payment process, an input window appears automatically directly from the card-issuing bank. There, the cardholder enters their personal security code and thereby identifies them self as the legitimate cardholder. The process is similar to entering a PIN at an ATM.
